What is AThinkStats?

AThinkStats is a free online tool to help you track keyword ranking of your website and those of your
competitors using the Google API and Yahoo API. You can track how your website(s) and your

What is a Google API key and why do I need one?
|
A Google API key allows a programmer to connect to a Google computer and ask it questions.
Since most people out there are not programmers, we have done the programming for you.
Further, Google limits the number of queries one develper can do per day.
The query limit is usually quite sufficent for one user, but multiple users will max out the limit quite quickly.

What is a Yahoo Application ID and why do I need one?
|
A Yahoo Application ID is used to access a Yahoo computer and give you access. Just like the Google API, queries are limited.

What is your privacy policy and why do you need my email address?
|
Your information is safe with us. We will not sell or distribute your information in any way.
We will not send you any emails. We only require your email address so that we can email you your
password in case you forget it.

How many searches or queries can I make in one day?
|
Google has a limit of 1000 queries per day with your unique Google API key

I see different results or rankings when I do a search from my computer?
|
The search engine companies have many servers that they use in order to handle the load of the entire Internet doing searches. Many times someone in one part of the world will see different results from someone in another part of the world. We use a specific server as defined by the search engines application programming interface (API). The server will almost for sure be different from the one you are using when running a search through a web interface. Previous tools that tried to accomplish the same thing as AThinkStats would run queries against the public search engines and scape the results for specific sites. We are using the method that is currently recommended by the engines because it will give the best and most steady results.

Why can’t I change my query or search terms?
|
We don’t allow you to alter a query because it would alter the integrity of the previous searches. Since we cannot go back in time to run the searches again, you have to create a new one. We do not limit the number of things you can track, just keep creating new and different searches.
